Version 2.0

easy.exe: 3/7/97
Released: 3/7/97

NOTES:

  1. Added a new message to warn the user before the format is saved and the report file is overwritten. This allows the user an opportunity to rename the format prior to saving it. After which, the report data from the old format may be printed or written to a file for further processing.

  2. Added the “Right Justify” option for Zebra printers allowing the text to be aligned with the right edge of the text field.

  3. Added the “Tear-Off” mode to Apollo printers. This feeds the last label of the print job to the tear bar allowing the user to tear off the job without feeding a blank label. Before printing the next job, the label is backfed and print begins at the correct position on the label.

  4. Apollo 3 now has support for 5 print speeds which now includes 5 IPS.

  5. Added a warning message that helps prevent the user from overwriting a database with a text file. When the user writes database records to a text file in which the file name is the same as a database file, the following warning message is displayed:

“[path:filename] already exists, press OK to overwrite it, otherwise press CANCEL.”

Choosing CANCEL and selecting another filename will prevent the database from being overwritten.

  1. Added support for UCC/EAN 128 SSCC-18/SSC-14.

  2. Added support for the RS-485 protocol on Apollo.

  3. Added support for the Apollo memory card.

  4. UCC/EAN 128 SSCC-18/SSC-14 Help. This button found on the bottom of the symbologies list for a bar code field allows you to view an online help guide for UCC/EAN 128. Some commonly used terms are defined and step-by-step instructions for creating a Code 128 bar code.

  5. Added the Define Search Path function. This allows you to globally specify a new search path for picture fields and database fields on the format. Therefore, you will not need to change each individual field that references database and picture files. Enter Y in the Program Configuration screen to define the search path used by each format.

  6. Added support for creating database index files at print time. Database files that do not have an index associated with them will automatically have one created at print time. This is only available for EASYLABEL databases. When using a database search key, an index file will be created based on the chosen search key, thus making the search time faster. Once the index is created, it is saved as part of the database structure.

  7. Added user selectability of which Windows printer to print to when printing reports or database records.

  8. Added the ability to enter the thickness parameter for a Line field.

  9. Added the command file clause, getstatus useprinter=printernumber . This can be used to get printer status of the printer being used. Status returned to a printer will be written to a file called n.dat , where n is the number of the printer as defined in EASYLABEL and the number specified in the clause.

  10. Added support for Western Telematic Switchboxes for Zebra printers.

  11. Added the XOR command. This option allows you to choose how the printer will handle overlapping fields. Choosing YES will enable XOR mode which will cause overlapping fields to be printed in white. Choosing NO will disable XOR mode which will cause overlapping fields to be printed in black.

  12. Added clock support for the Sato CL series. This allows formats with a time stamp to be printed in real time using the printers internal clock. To use this option the printer must be equipped with a real-time clock chip and you must enable it within EASYLABEL’s printer configuration.

  13. Added MaxiCode support for Datamax, Sato and Apollo printers.
