Version 4.0.2.275-276¶
Released: 11/05/2002
EASYLABEL 4.0 has a new user interface designed to make common functions easily accessible. Multiple toolbars duplicate nearly every menu item, allowing instant access to most label design features. Toolbars can be enabled or disabled, or moved to any convenient location. A field list window shows all of the currently defined fields, sorted by several categories. This makes locating and selecting fields very easy. All of the dialog boxes now have a new “tabbed” look (this option can be turned off if needed). All of these new features add up to make EASYLABEL 4.0 the most powerful labeling software available.
The following printer families are supported:

Updates and Changes in Version 4.0.2.275-276
Datamax date fields and text header/trailer
Corrected a problem where a date field that had a header or trailer would sometimes not print the header/trailer.
TEC and Intermec printing UPC 2 or 5 digit extensions
Fixed problem with check digit in the human readable of a UPC symbol with 2 or 5 digit extensions when printed on a TEC or Intermec printer.
Intermec UPC-E symbols
Corrected a problem with the printing of UPC-E symbols on all Intermec printers.
Deleting files with very long pathnames
Corrected a problem with deleting files that had very long pathnames (greater than 128 characters).
ActiveX and long printer names
Corrected a problem where the ActiveX would not be able to find printers with long printer names. This was a problem with Windows printer drivers where the name can be longer than 31 characters.
ODBC FILEDSN data sources
ODBC data sources that use FILEDSN are now displayed in the database selection list. Previously, they were not shown in the list, but could be entered manually.
Novexx driver and multi-style paragraph fields
The Novexx printer driver now allows text paragraph fields to use multiple font styles.
Novexx PDF-417 symbols
Corrected a problem with PDF-417 symbols in the Novexx printer driver.
Novexx and rotated text fields
Corrected a problem where text fields that had alignment other than left aligned (centered, etc.) would not print correctly if rotated.
Message box text cutoff
Fixed a problem where some very long messages were displayed with part of the text cut off in the window.
Network version and command file CLOSE
Using the CLOSE command in a command file with the network version would not release the network license immediately. This has been corrected.
TrueType font character set
A new prompt was added to allow selection of the character set (script) of a TrueType font. This allows entry of text using Russian or Arabic characters for example.
Double click field properties
Double clicking a field in the label image window will bring up the field properties dialog box.
Field selection
Fields will stay selected after performing an operation in anticipation of performing another operation on the same field.
Multiple database indexes
Fixed a problem where multiple indexes were being created for a database. This happened when multiple users were accessing the same database.
Sato and UPC/EAN symbols
For some Sato printers, many UPC or EAN symbols had human readable interpretation printed even though interpretation was turned off in the field properties. This has been corrected.
Tharo/cab A-Series printers and backfeed speed
Added option to set the backfeed speed for some of the Tharo and cab A-Series printers. This also applies to the Diagraph ALP/4500 printers.
Codabar incorrect check digits
Fixed a problem where an incorrect check digit was sometimes calculated for a Codabar symbol.
Database Editor
Editing records in the datasheet view when an index file was selected sometimes caused other records to be corrupted. This has been corrected. Database changes and additions are now cached and are written to the database when exiting edit mode or can be updated immediately by selecting “Save” from the menu or toolbar.
Printer Configuration fix
Corrects a problem in the printer configuration where options were displayed that were not valid for the selected printer model.
Label format files deleted unexpectedly
In rare cases when there was multiple read/write access to a label format file stored on a network drive, the label format file may have been deleted. This has been corrected.
Version 4.0.2.275 adds new options that allow for the deletion of command files after they have been processed.
This may be useful in cases where an external program needs to know if the command file has been processed. A new command line switch “/E” can be used to delete a command file that is specified on the command line. As an example, the command line:
easy label.cmd /e
would delete the file “label.cmd” after it has been processed. The /E switch can be used in addition to the /W or /M switches to delete the monitored command file.
A new setting in the “Program Options” screen called “Delete Command File” has been added to delete the command file being monitored. This option is only valid if “Command File Monitor” is enabled.
Command files that are processed by “drag-and-drop” onto the EASYLABEL window are NEVER deleted, regardless of the /E switch or the setting of the “Delete Command File” program option.
Text Database Files fixed in build 276
When trying to print a format that used a text database file, in some cases the program tried to create an index for the text database. This was incorrect and has been fixed.
