Updates and changes in Version 4.2.1.311
Zebra “Plus” model printers
Added support for the “Plus” models of the following Zebra printers: 90XiIII, 96XiIII, 140XiIII, 170XiIII, and 220XiIII.
TSC driver fixes
Corrected problems with ITF-14 symbols. Added printer test option. Fixed problem with reverse text fields.
Allow for check digits for code 39, interleaved 2 of 5, MSI, Codabar, and NW7 symbols.
2D symbols
Corrected a problem where some 2D symbols (DataMatrix, QR-Code, etc.) were not sized correctly if they are using “when printed” data source.
Font Conversion
When converting label formats from one printer family to another (from Zebra to Datamax for example) some internal printer fonts were not converted correctly. Internal printer fonts are now converted to similar sized TrueType fonts.
Label Height
Removed limitation on label height. It is possible to enter a value greater than some printers allow, but this cansometimes be corrected by adding more memory to the printer.
Bar Code Height
Removed limitation on bar code height. The height of a bar code is only limited by the size of the label.
Datamax I and W class
The “standard” driver for the I and W class Datamax printers now allows bidirectional parallel.
Datamax clock settings
The Datamax drivers now have printer configuration option of whether to set the printer clock to match the PC system clock.
Printer configuration
Right clicking on a printer now properly selects the printer. Corrected a problem when selecting printer manufacturer and not selecting a printer model caused bad configuration data to be saved.
DataMatrix symbols and double-byte characters
Fixed problem where certain double-byte characters were not encoded correctly. This was mainly a problem when encoding Japanese or Chinese characters.
Datamax driver fixes
Fix to allow for lines and boxes bigger than 9.99 inches. Fix to allow DataMatrix symbols to be processed by the printer instead of being sent as a graphic image.
Printronix driver changes
Added “presentation position” option. Added “flip format”, “reverse image”, and “initial label feed” options. Added darkness adjustment to printer configuration. Added “job separator”, and “pass through” options. Added alternate styles for TrueType fonts. Allow default character width for TrueType fonts. Added printer test and printer reset functions. Allow for slanted and circular arc for TrueType text fields. Added NW7 symbology. Fixed Code 128 numeric interpretation problem. Added text justification options (left, center, right). Added print modes for Batch, Peel, and Tear. Fixed length problem with Codabar symbols using check digits. Corrected problems with UPC/EAN symbols. Fixed some incrementation problems.
Sato driver changes
Added option in printer configuration to allow for setting the printer clock to match the PC clock. Added printer test option.
TEC printers
Corrected problems when jobs were cancelled, the printer was not properly reset before the next job was sent, causing errors in the printer.
Page sizes
Corrected problems in the HP and Windows printer drivers where certain checks were made against the maximum page size, not the currently selected page size.
Text and Bar Code stretching
Fixed a problem where text or bar code fields that were stretched using the mouse did not correctly calculate the final field size.
Zebra driver changes
Fixed crash when using the “Print ID label” option. Fixed problem with TrueType fonts using a width of 0. Allow for larger bar width multiplier for some symbols.
Reports
Fixed problem of getting “unable to access report printer” error when opening a report file.
Right click field properties
Fixed problem of right-clicking on a field and selecting field properties. Sometimes you would get properties for more than one field if there was already a field selected and you right-click on a different field.
EASYLABEL database
Added ability to use “hot keys” for any of the buttons in the database dialogs. For example, you can now use “ALT+A” to add a record to a database. Corrected problem where the toolbar button for “data sheet” becomes disabled.
Print using 2 databases
Fixed problem in the selection screen when there are 2 database search keys.
ActiveX changes
Fixed problem when requesting status of a job that was already completed. The ActiveX server now is self-registering. Fixed ELabelInfo control to allow the “Field” properties to be displayed in Visual Basic.
24.Windows printers
Corrected problem when printing multi-across and multi-down and the label count does not completely fill an entire page. Also corrected a problem where the interpretation for a bar code field would disappear if the format was designed for a different printer model.
Increment/Decrement fields
Corrected a problem where entering 0 as the change amount caused an error to be displayed even if a valid change amount was subsequently entered.
Toolbar field name
The drop-down list in the toolbar that shows all of the field names is now sorted by field type then field name.
Zebra format conversion from DOS
Corrected problems converting from DOS formats. The wrong printer model code was selected and the wrong print head DPI (dots per inch) was used. This caused problems with text fields and bar code fields being incorrectly sized.
Apollo “repeat prompt” with database
Added feature to the Apollo driver to allow downloaded formats using a database to specify the database search key as the “repeat prompt” field. After printing a set of labels, the printer will return to the specified prompt for entry of additional data.
Circular Arc text fields
Corrected a problem where circular arc text fields using TrueType fonts and setting “Field Contrast” to “Reverse” printed outside of the arc, creating an uneven edge.
HP print test
Added ability to print a test page, to verify that printer is properly connected.
Apollo protocol errors
Corrected problem where the Apollo printer would give a protocol error in some cases of text fields using TrueType fonts, and the “download font” option was set to “No”.
Apollo download format and label counts
Corrected a problem when downloading a format to the Apollo and selecting “indefinite” as the print quantity. The printer would still prompt for a quantity.
Apollo clock settings
Added printer configuration option to the Apollo printers to allow the printer driver to automatically set the printer clock to match the system clock.
Apollo incremented fields
Corrected a problem in the Apollo driver where incremented fields would not increment if “resend downloaded data” was enabled in the program options.
Apollo serial baud rates
Added several higher baud rates (115,200 and 230,400) to the A-series Apollo printers.
Apollo download and lowercase field names
The Apollo printer did not like field names that contain lowercase letters, even though these are valid field names. When downloaded to the printer, all lowercase field names are converted to uppercase.
Apollo download and “cut after batch”
Corrected a problem where downloaded formats that use the “cut after batch” option did not cut after each batch, but at the end of the job.
Apollo scalable fonts
Corrected a problem with the Apollo driver where scalable fonts that were stretched using the mouse would shrink to a very small size.
Intermec and TCP/IP printing
Added the ability to do hardware reset and printer test functions when connected via TCP/IP network.
Intermec field center/justify
Added the ability to do center and right justified fields.
Intermec printer test
Added the ability to print a test page, to verify that printer is properly connected.
Novexx driver changes
Added the ability to do reverse image labels on supported printer models. Scalable fonts can now be stretched using the sizing handles of the text field. Reverse, slanted, and circular arc is now allowed for text fields using TrueType fonts. Fixed problem with stretching scalable font fields that caused the text to become very small. Added option for feed offset and job separator. Text fields using TrueType fonts now allow for the “full justify” option. Added options for checkdigits and ratios for the Codabar and NW7 symbologies.
Sato and Code128 with Function 1
Corrected problem where a Code128 symbol with added function 1 character would not encode the function 1 if the source of data for the symbol included a date or time field.
Sato set clock option
Added printer configuration option to the Sato printers to allow the printer driver to automatically set the printer clock to match the system clock.
Sato printer test
Added ability to print a test page, to verify that printer is properly connected.
Sato print darkness setting
Corrected a problem in the Sato driver where the darkness setting would change if the label format was converted from one Sato printer to another.
TEC printer test
Added ability to print a test page, to verify that printer is properly connected.
TSC text style options
The TSC driver now allows for alternate styles of text in a text paragraph field when using TrueType fonts.
TSC printer test
Added ability to print a test page, to verify that printer is properly connected.
Zebra set clock option
Added printer configuration option to the Zebra printers to allow the printer driver to automatically set the printer clock to match the system clock.
Zebra circle field
Certain Zebra printer models can now print circles. This requires a certain version of firmware for the printer.
Zebra and reverse 2D symbols
The Zebra driver no longer allows for reverse image of a 2D symbology. This was an invalid selection.
Zebra and TrueType fonts
Fixed a problem with TrueType fonts using default character width. In some cases the program would give an error if the field orientation was changed.
Sato and text paragraphs
The Sato printer driver did not allow for right justification of text paragraphs. This capability has been added for all Sato printers.
Printronix, Novexx, and TSC slow printing using incremented fields
There was a problem in these printer drivers that caused the labels to be sent one at a time instead of letting the printer increment the fields.
Intermec network printing
Printing to an Intermec printer using a network connection (either direct or using IP socket) caused some formats to not leave the print queue. This has been corrected.
