Important Note: As of Version 5.7.0 EASYLABEL will only install on Windows 2000 or higher. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT are no longer supported. EASYLABEL 5.6 should be used on Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT. Windows 95 is not supported.

Important Note: If you used Visual Studio 2003 to compile a project using EASYLABEL’s ActiveX objects with version 1.1 of the .NET framework, you may experience a crash when you run your project after upgrading to EASYLABEL 5.7.0 or higher. This is because the project tries to load .NET framework version 1.1 and then tries to load .NET framework version 2. This loading of the second .NET framework fails and that causes the crash. To correct this, compile your project using Visual Studio 2005. If this is not possible you can correct the problem if you un-install version 1.1 of the .NET framework.

The following changes/additions have been made:

  1. Database Editor and ALT+n keys

In the EASYLABEL database editor when editing a database record in form view, it was difficult to enter an extended character using the ALT key and the number keys. Entering ALT+2 for example opened the file browse window. This has been corrected so that extended characters can be entered using the ALT+nnn format.

  1. Multi-Source Barcodes and Function Characters

The control code list showed function characters (Function 1, etc.) but if these were selected, they could not be added to the field data segments list. This has been corrected.

  1. GS1 DataBar

Corrected the name for GS1 DataBar wherever it appeared in the menu and barcode wizard.

  1. ActiveX Memory Leak

Fixed a possible memory leak in the EASYLABEL ActiveX server.

  1. History Logging Crash

Fixed a crash if history logging is enabled and set to log changes to formats, and the logging database server is not available when a format is saved.

  1. Tharo H-Series Printers

If a format designed for the Tharo H-Series printer is set for memory download, the increment/decrement types are restricted to only those available in the printer.

  1. Tharo H-Series DataMatrix Symbol

If a DataMatrix symbol has a linked “time” field, then the time will update properly. Previously, the time was linked as a fixed text string. This only works correctly if the DataMatrix contains no carriage-return characters (CR or ASCII 13).

  1. Sato Printers and Date Offsets

Is some cases where a label had an increment/decrement field and also a date field using an offset, labels would be sent to the printer one at a time. This has been fixed so that the print job is sent as one batch. This requires the use of the special “*!USECLOCK” comment as described in the “Sato Datamatrix Enhancements” in the 6.1.0.1765 release notes below.

  1. Print History Console

In the login screen of the Print History Console, in some languages there was some text overlap, making the prompts hard to read. This has been corrected.

  1. Print Job Label Count

Editing a print job that is in the EASYLABEL print queue (to change the destination printer, for example), would reset the label counts back to the last used label count. This should not occur and has been corrected.

  1. Datamax Printers and Width Command

The label width command was not being sent to some Datamax printers that require it. This has been fixed.

  1. Datamax Media Sensor Type

Corrected a problem where the sensor type (reflective or see-through) might not be recognized if the printer was previously using continuous media.

  1. User Sign-On Error

In some rare cases where “User Signon Required” was enabled, EASYLABEL would crash if the user had certain authorizations enabled and user logging was turned on. This has been fixed.

  1. New Flip Override Option

Added a new option to the printer configuration (for printers that support a hardware flip command) to change how labels are flipped when sent to that printer. The new option allows the selection of: no change, never flip, toggle flip, or always flip. This option is useful in cases where there is a mixed environment of left-handed and right-handed print engines. This option can be enabled for one set of printers so that existing label formats can be used without changing the flip option in the label format file.

  1. Sato Fonts CG Times and CG Triumvirate

When converting label formats from one Sato printer to a different Sato printer model, fonts might not be converted correctly. This happens with the CG Times and CG Triumvirate Sato internal fonts. These two fonts were converted to a different Sato font. This problem has been corrected.

  1. Print History Console

The Print History Console and the EASYLABEL history logging feature did not work properly when set to use an international date format (something other than MM-DD-YYYY). This problem has been corrected and all international date formats should be able to be displayed in the Print History Console.

  1. Label Format Change History

In some cases garbage text was displayed in the “Reason” column in the Format Change History screen. This sometimes happened if no text was entered for the change reason when the format was saved.

  1. Embedded Graphic Images

When saving a format that has picture fields with the “embed graphic image” turned on, the image will be resaved in the format. This fixes the problem where if the image has changed, but the name is the same, the old embedded image was not updated. If the format was sent to a different computer, then the old image would appear. Images are now updated every time that the format is saved.

  1. Large Embedded Graphic Images

In the case of embedding a large graphic image into a label format file, subsequent editing of the picture field might cause errors or label corruption. This has been corrected.

  1. Full Print Queue

In the rare case that the print queue was completely full and there was no room to add a new print job, print drivers might freeze and stop printing, or EASYLABEL might crash. This has been corrected.

  1. Print History Console

Corrected a problem where label formats with blank field names causes problems in the Print History Console. Sometimes fields might show the wrong value or errors might be displayed, such as “Picture File Error”, when the label preview image was being updated.

  1. TEC Printer Bar Code Ratio

Added the ability to select 2.5:1 bar width ratio for the Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode. This applies to all TEC printers supported by EASYLABEL.
