The following changes/additions have been made:
Arithmetic Fields
When entering an arithmetic formula for a field, you can now use the “Edit” button to open an expanded editor window to make it much easier to edit complicated formula. (bug# 847)
Invisible Barcode Check Digits
Allow copying the check digit character from an invisible barcode field using the @fieldname function. (bug# 998)
Windows Printer Drivers
In the print request screen, the list of printers showed all the available printers. It now marks any Windows printer drivers by adding “(W)” to the printer name. (bug# 1019)
Printronix Printers Cut by Label Count
Added the ability to specify a label count when cutting labels. This is in addition to the normal cut after format, cut after batch, and cut after job. (bug# 1056)
New Paragraph Field Type
Added a new Paragraph field type that can be used for formatted text (not just for paragraphs). The field can contain any data in RTF (Rich Text Format) as created by the Microsoft Word or WordPad applications (or any other application that can create RTF formatted files). (bug# 109)
Keyboard Menu Navigation in Chinese
Fixed the missing keyboard menu navigation shortcuts in the Traditional and Simplified Chinese languages. (bug# 403)
LabelCom Logging of Incoming Data
Added the option of logging all incoming data to the EASYLABEL log file ($lbl.log in user\documents folder). This option is enabled by adding the /T command line switch when invoking LabelCom. This can be done by editing the start menu shortcut or by starting LabelCom from the command prompt using this command line: LabelCom /T. (bug# 805)
Sato Printer and Incrementing Barcodes
Fixed the Sato printer driver to allow incrementing of a Code 128 barcode that includes an FN1 function character. The increment (or decrement) is done in the printer instead of creating a separate print batch for each barcode. (bug# 961)
FDA 21 CFR Part 11 Password Enhancements
Add option to warn users when their password is about to expire. The number of days warning is configurable. Add option to set a maximum number of login attempts, and if the user exceeds this number, their account is locked and can only be unlocked by a user with manager rights. (bug# 969)
LabelCom Display Buffer Overflow
LabelCom now displays a message indicating if the input buffer overflow instead of silently ignoring the data. (bug# 981)
cab Printers and Datamatrix
Added ability to specify the exact size of a Datamatrix symbol. (bug# 1045)
TSC Printer Status Query
Added ability to query printer for status and display this information in the print queue. (bug# 1051)
EASYLABEL and .jpeg File Extension
Added ability to use files with the .jpeg extension in addition to the previously supported .jpg extension. (bug# 1071)
FMTNAME and Linked Barcodes
When using the FMTNAME feature and a barcode contains data linked from other fields, the barcode would sometimes display as all zeroes (0) in the print preview screen. This has been corrected. (bug# 1097)
Support for cab Barcode Verifiers
Add support for the cab CC2 and CC4 barcode verifiers. This needs to be enabled in each label format that needs this feature. (bug# 1105)
Year Offset Past 2038
When doing date offsets, if the year went past 2038 the field was displayed as question marks. This has been corrected to allow for dates far into the future. (bug# 1142)
Character Formatting Using a List
Added a new feature to apply character formatting to certain words in a text field that match a list of words. This can be used for example to highlight allergens in a list of ingredients, or to highlight words in a product label. (bug# 1143)
Text Under Icons in Toolbars
Added the option to show text hints under the icons in the toolbars. This can be enabled in the “Appearance” section of the “Settings” menu or in the “Program Options”. (bug# 1144)
EASYLABEL and User Log Reader
There was a file conflict between EASYLABEL and the User Log Reader application that might prevent EASYLABEL from starting if the Reader application was already running. This has been corrected. (bug# 1146)
ODBC Connection String Problems
Corrected a problem where the “Extended Properties” data of a connection string was lost, resulting in persistent queries to reconnect to the database. (bug# 1158)
Display Orientation for Windows Drivers
Allow setting the “Display Orientation” for labels designed for printing to a Windows printer driver. This makes it much easier to design labels for thermal printers. (bug# 1159)
Zebra Multi-Source Barcode
On a Zebra printer, multi-source barcodes might not align correctly based on the justification (left, center, or right) selected for the field. This has been fixed. (bug# 1164)
Default Format Template
The default format template incorrectly saved the value of the printer pass-through data. This has been corrected. (bug# 1175)
Sato CL4NX HF RFID Support
Added support for HF (High Frequency) RFID tags to the Sato CL4NX series printers. (bug# 1178)
Sato CL4NX Driver Fixes
Remove RG, RH, and Kanji fonts from the CL4NX (which does not support these fonts). Use new command for print darkness which supports wider range of values. Fix RFID write command and also implement missing RFID write protect command. (bug# 1182)
Barcode Bar Width of Zero
When changing formats from one printer to another and the printers differed vastly in their resolutions, it was possible that the automatic conversion could set the bar width to zero. This has been corrected. (bug# 1184)
Conditional Printing of Fields
Fields that have “Enable Printing” set to “Conditional” might not appear correctly in the label preview image in EASYLABEL Net Print Server. This has been fixed. (bug# 1189)
No Charge Print-Only Upgrades
All EASYLABEL Print-Only keys will work with all newer versions without an upgrade fee. There is no charge to upgrade to the latest EASYLABEL with a Print-Only key. (bug# 1211)
EASYLABEL Crash Adding a “Line” Field
In rare cases, EASYLABEL may crash when adding a line field to the label format. The cause was changing label orientation after selecting “Line” but before the line was actually drawn into the label. (bug# 1212)
Zebra Printer Presentation Position
Added ability to specify a “presentation position” or “tear-off position”. This allows labels to be removed before the printing of the next label. (bug# 1219)
Sato Date/Time Fields
In some cases when printing a date or time field using an internal printer font, the field might not print. This was caused by a printer clock command and a font select command being sent in the wrong order. This has been fixed. (bug# 1249)
Paste Field and Duplicate Field Names
In some cases it was possible to create duplicate field names by doing multiple pastes without an intervening copy. This has been fixed. (bug# 1271)
System Wave Printer Changes
Allow 1 inch-per-second print speed on the KSW-BP1600i and KSW-BP863i. Use new rotate command for inverting the label 180 degrees. (bug# 1276)
Tharo Cutter Fix
Implement new “Cutter Fix” button in the printer status window that can resynchronize the cutter after an error condition. (bug# 1288)
Chinese Language Fix
In the “Special Formatting” option in the “Format” tab of the field properties was missing the “Custom Numeric” formatting option. This has been corrected. (bug# 1294)
Zebra ZE500-4 Printer and RFID
Add ability to program an RFID tag using the Zebra ZE500-4 printer. (bug# 1295)
Godex Printer DPI Error
The Godex printer models RT230i and RT730i were incorrectly given a DPI of 203. These printer models are actually 300 DPI printers. This has been corrected. (bug# 1296)
DatabaseView Crash
After opening an .MDB database file and selecting a table to view, DatabaseView might have crashed. This has been fixed. (bug# 1300)
Crash With When-Printed Field
If a field with source of data “when printed” had a long operator prompt (more than 35 characters), EASYLABEL might crash. This has been corrected. (bug# 1306)
TSC Network Printers
When printing to a TSC printer via the Ethernet interface, the printer was reset and the label did not print. Sending the print job again printed the label, but serial numbers may not be printed correctly. This has been fixed. (bug# 1311)
Text Fields and Conditional Printing
Text fields would sometimes have weird character spacing if the field was conditional. If the field was disabled, the text would look correct, but if enabled, the spacing was incorrect. This has been fixed. (bug# 1312)
cab Printers and Standalone Mode
Newer cab printers allow for longer label names in standalone mode. The previous limit was 8 characters for the label name. This has been increased to 50 characters. (bug# 1313)
Datamatrix and FNC1
The Datamatrix symbol allows for encoding an FNC1 (function 1) for use in GS1 data stream. This conflicted with the use of Kanji characters (and other multi-byte encodings). This has been fixed to allow for correct GS1 Datamatrix encoding (which does not allow for multi-byte like Kanji). (bug# 1123)
Database Cross Reference
If a database contained more than one column that had cross reference data, the final field may contain the cross reference link instead of the actual cross reference data. This has been corrected. (bug# 1192)
Tharo Printer Download to Flash Drive
The new Tharo “T” series printers now support storing format files and other associated files (picture, database, etc.) directly to a connected flash drive for later connection to the printer. (bug# 1260)
Tharo Printers and UPC/EAN Barcodes
For the 300 and 600 DPI printer models, the length calculated for a UPC/EAN barcode was too short. This resulted in the incorrect placement of the barcode on the label. This has been fixed. (bug# 1283)
EASYLABEL Key ID
The key ID application has several fixes and enhancements. Fixed to correctly display information for multi-user keys. Added version number information on the main screen. The application now ignores any key that is not a Tharo key (for cases where multiple applications are protected by a Wibukey). Fixed to recognize all versions of EASYLABEL keys. (bug# 1298, 1303, 1334)
Cross Reference and Unicode
When a cross reference field is set to use Unicode, use the correct codepage when converting cross references to the actual field data. (bug# 1336)
SQL Password
For the “Print History” create table script for SQL, use a more complex password when creating the default user login. This satisfies the more recent versions of Microsoft SQL Server. (bug# 1349)
EASYLABEL Configuration File Locations
The location of the EASYLABEL configuration files (label.cfg, label0.ini, and easysp.dll.config) has changed. The EASYLABEL configuration files are now stored in “\Users\Public\PublicDocuments\Tharo\EASYLABEL” as these files need to be writable by any user. The label.cfg files stores the EASYLABEL configuration settings and printer list. Individual users can have a private copy of the “label.cfg” file if EASYLABEL finds one in the “\Users\username>\Documents\Tharo\EASYLABEL” folder. The same is true for the “label0.ini” configuration file. The label0.ini file stores the recent file lists and other dynamic program data. (bug# 1322, 1324, 1338)
