Important Note: As of Version 5.7.0 EASYLABEL will only install on Windows 2000 or higher. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT are no longer supported. EASYLABEL 5.6 should be used on Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT. Windows 95 is not supported.
Important Note: If you used Visual Studio 2003 to compile a project using EASYLABEL’s ActiveX objects with version 1.1 of the .NET framework, you may experience a crash when you run your project after upgrading to EASYLABEL 5.7.0 or higher. This is because the project tries to load .NET framework version 1.1 and then tries to load .NET framework version 2. This loading of the second .NET framework fails and that causes the crash. To correct this, compile your project using Visual Studio 2005. If this is not possible you can correct the problem if you un-install version 1.1 of the .NET framework.
The following changes/additions have been made:
XML Monitor
The XML monitor has been enhanced so that bad (incorrectly formatted, empty, etc) XML files are ignored. If monitoring a folder from a network share, the monitor can now recover if the server becomes unavailable. The monitor will attempt to reconnect to the shared folder every few seconds until a successful connection is made.
The LABEL0.INI file
The LABEL0.INI file stores user settings such as the last format file used, the recent file list, etc. Normally, this file is kept in the “All Users” folder. If a copy of this file is stored in a user folder such as “Documents And Settings\username>\ Application Data\Tharo\EASYLABEL” then the recent file list will be based on the Windows username.
PDF Writer or XPS Document Writer
When printing a format to a PDF Writer or XPS Document Writer Windows driver, sometimes the output was not correct. The sizes or positions of fields may not have been correct. This problem has been fixed so that formats designed for other printer drivers can be printed to these types of Windows drivers.
USPS Intelligent Mail Barcode
If incorrect data is entered for this barcode, it may cause a crash. This has been fixed so that the data is validated to be correct before processing.
Database Search Function
When searching database records in the database editor, not all of the data was scanned for the search item. This caused some records to be missed even though they contained the item being searched. This has been fixed so that each database record is fully scanned for the search item.
Godex EZ-series Printers
Due to a firmware change in the Godex printers, the memory card file list might not be correct. The total free memory was not shown correctly. The driver has been fixed to properly detect the correct amount of free memory.
Tharo H-series Printers and UPC/EAN barcodes
Made a change to allow for larger UPC and EAN barcodes. You can pick bar width multipliers up to 10 (although large numbers may create barcodes that do not match the specification). This can be used in special cases where a very large barcode is needed to be scanned from a distance.
cab Printers
Removed the label perforation options if no cutter is currently installed in the printer.
Barcode Wizard
In some cases, a barcode created with the wizard and using a database field as one of the items in the barcode, would not print correctly if multiple database records were selected for printing. This has been fixed.
Tharo H-series Text Paragraphs
A paragraph that contains text linked from other fields might not have printed correctly. This has been fixed so that the paragraph is formatted correctly based on the linked text.
Tharo Printers
Added option in the printer configuration for “Clear Flash Memory”. If this option is set to “No”, the flash memory in the printer is not cleared prior to each print job. This can significantly improve throughput.
Downloading Formats to Tharo Printers
Corrected a problem when downloading some formats to the memory card in Tharo H and V series printers. Formats that contained embedded graphic files might cause the printer to lock up or display strange errors. This has been fixed.
TSC Printers Major Enhancements
Added the ability to download label formats and store them in the printer FLASH memory (either internal or external). These downloaded formats can be selected and recalled using a keyboard compatible with the printer. Using the keyboard, data can be entered for variable fields (barcodes and text). Also, the print quantity can be specified. Added the ability to use the internal printer clock, although only specific numeric date and time formats are supported.
Net Print Server
Net Print Server is a new software product that allows an unlimited number of users to browse and print labels using familiar web browsers such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. This product does not require the installation of any software on the users computers. The systems administrator installs the Net Print Server on a label server computer (which may already be running a company intranet for example). See the included ELNPS.DOC file for a complete description of this product and the instructions for installation and use.
