The following changes/additions have been made:

  1. RFID Wizard changes

When creating an EPC identity type, the RFID wizard now allows the “filter” and “indicator/extension digit” to be imported from an existing label field instead of using a fixed value. This allows these values to change at run-time by using when-printed or database data for these items.

  1. Enhanced image processing

If the program option “enhanced image processing” is enabled, then a more advanced “choose picture” dialog is displayed when a picture field uses source of data “when printed” to allow choosing the file name at run time.

  1. dbase database editor

When adding a record in “datasheet” view, now automatically enters edit mode for the first column of the database.

  1. Intermec True-Type text

When a format designed for a non-Intermec printer was printed on an Intermec printer, text fields using True-Type fonts sometimes did not print. This has been corrected.

  1. Copying check digit from RSS-14 symbol

Using the function to copy a check digit from an RSS-14 symbol did not copy the correct character. This has been corrected to copy the calculated check digit.

  1. Windows printer drivers

Sometimes when converting formats from one windows printer driver to another, some label format properties were changed and text changed size. This has been corrected. Also corrected problem where text sometimes had the foreground and background colors set the same, making the text invisible.

  1. OpenType fonts

OpenType fonts can now be used for any printer that supports printing using TrueType fonts. They appear in the font list as TrueType fonts.

  1. Printing without saving

It is now possible to print a batch of labels without saving the label format file. Previously, any new or modified format had to be saved before it could be printed.

  1. Finding TCP/IP printers

The printer configuration now has a “port scan” function to help in finding the correct port number for a TCP/IP connected printer. It first checks the common port numbers, and if that fails to find a printer, allows you to scan for ports.

  1. TCP/IP printer speed improvements

Changed the packet size sent to TCP/IP connected printers. A smaller number of packets are sent and this improves the speed of communication.

  1. Label format default printer

A label format can be set to have a default printer name. When printing, the named printer is selected as the default destination for the print job. This is useful for companies driving more than 1 printer from a single PC to prevent a format from being printed on an incorrect label size.

  1. File Associations

Double-click a label format to open it for editing. Right-click the format file to get a menu that allows you to open the format for printing.

  1. Moving fields using the arrow keys

After selecting a field, it is now possible to move the field by using the arrow keys. Previously, this would only work if the left mouse button was also pressed. This makes is easier to do fine adjustments of field position.

  1. Concurrent printer access

When printing to multiple printers connected to a single port using a printer switch (WTI, Rocketport, etc), all printers had to have the same setting for “Concurrent Access”. The printer configuration screen will now give a warning message if there is a conflict with this setting.

  1. Configuration changes

Any changes to the program configuration takes effect immediately after exiting the configuration screens. If there are currently jobs in the print queue, then the program must be shutdown and restarted manually to use the new configuration settings.

  1. Optimize Datamatrix and Optimize QR-Code

The “Optimize Datamatrix” and “Optimize QR-Code” printer configuration prompts have been removed from the Silver version because that version does not support any 2D symbols.

  1. Printer Configuration

When changing the printer vendor selection, now properly loads the correct model names based on the selected vendor. Fixed problem where the wrong printer information was displayed.

  1. Graphic image aspect ratio

Corrected problem with printer drivers where graphic images where not centered correctly in the available field area when the “Maintain Aspect Ratio” option was selected.

  1. “Not For Resale” key

When using a “Not For Resale” key, the name of the software was incorrect in the title bar and some message boxes.

  1. Start version printer install

When installing the “Start” version of the software, now prompts user to setup a printer. Previously, it defaulted to a printer which might have not been the correct model.

  1. Start version “Create Replace File”

The “Create Replace File” option is not valid in the Start version of the software.

  1. Pasting field location

When pasting a field into a label format, the location of the paste is now under the cursor instead of the upper left of the label format.

  1. Label format reports

If a label format has an associated report file, the report was always recreated when the label format was edited. Now, only changes that would change fields of the format cause the report file to be recreated.

  1. Browse for folder

The browse dialogs now show all items from the “desktop” instead of just the current drives. This allows for accessing the desktop folder and the network places folders.

  1. Barcode wizard

Added many new EAN Application Identifiers (AI’s).

  1. Single click to change label direction

Added a button in the upper left corner of the label design window than when clicked rotates the label format counter-clockwise 90 degrees each time it is clicked.

  1. Windows printer information

Changed the printer configuration screens to show more data about Windows printers. This also will show the correct port name for Windows printers.

  1. Test Print

If the “disable test print” option is set to “yes” in the program configuration, then the “test print” icon on the toolbar is disabled in the print screen.

  1. Windows printer device fonts

If a label format is designed for a Windows printer, then any device fonts resident in the printer can now be selected when creating a text field.

  1. Format definition reports

There was an error in the format definition reports if there were more than 9 prompted fields. The “Data Checking” data was not printing correctly. This has been corrected.

  1. Sorted Field Names

The field name combobox in the toolbar now shows fields sorted by the field name. Previously, it was sorted by field type and it was difficult to find a particular field.

  1. Control Character Popup Menu

Added new feature to insert control codes (ASCII values between 1 and 31) into fixed data and database memo fields. A pop-up menu enables easy selection of the correct code. Control codes are displayed in the user interface as the control code name surrounded by angle brackets “<>”. For example, inserting a carriage-return in a field displays as <CR>.

  1. Page Layout Display

The “Page Layout” tab in the “Format Specifications” dialog now displays a small representation of the label format or the page layout being designed. This makes it easier to design labels for multi-up printing or when printing multiple label formats on one page.

  1. Lock Fields

Added the ability to lock and unlock fields. A locked field cannot be moved or stretched using the mouse. This is useful when designing labels to avoid accidental changes to a fields position or size.

  1. Terminal Server Demo

The software will now run in demo mode under terminal server if no valid terminal server key is found.

  1. TSC True-Type font download

The TSC printer driver now allows for downloaded True-Type font files. This will improve the processing speed of labels that use True-Type text fields that are incremented or read from databases.

  1. Logging options

When entering a folder name to store the various logs and backup files, if the folder does not exist the user is given the option of creating the folder.

  1. Multi-source field enhancement

When editing a multi-source field, you can now directly edit a literal value in the data segments table. Previously, to change the value of a literal it had to be deleted and re-added.

  1. New User Authorization

Added a new user authorization to allow a user that does not have “update format” authorization to edit field data from the “print format” screen. This allows a user to edit field data at print time but does not allow them to actually modify the label format itself.

  1. Intermec Code 128 correction

Corrected a problem where some data was not properly encoded into a Code 128 symbol.

  1. Format Browser Window

Added new feature to allow browsing for format files. The browser window displays small “thumbnail” images of all the format files in a specified folder. It is easy to view the format information, open the format for editing, or open the format for printing.

  1. Tharo H series printer enhancements

Newer firmware for the Tharo H series printers allows for downloading a database to the internal memory and using the database to print label formats using an attached keyboard. Also added new date formats to allow for zero-suppressed month and day fields. Expiration dates can also be printed by using an arithmetic statement of the form “DATE+n” where the “n” is the number of days from the current date.

  1. Flash Error on Tharo printers via USB

Corrected a problem where the H-Series printer would sometimes give a Flash error when printing via the USB interface.

  1. ELabelBatch Update Preview

Corrected a problem where the label preview of the ELabelBatch was not being updated.

  1. Corrected a problem with graphic placement in some orientations.
