Zebra R110Xi4 300 DPI |
Zebra R110Xi4 600 DPI |
Important Note: As of Version 5.7.0 EASYLABEL will only install on Windows 2000 or higher. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT are no longer supported. EASYLABEL 5.6 should be used on Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT. Windows 95 is not supported.
Important Note: If you used Visual Studio 2003 to compile a project using EASYLABEL’s ActiveX objects with version 1.1 of the .NET framework, you may experience a crash when you run your project after upgrading to EASYLABEL 5.7.0 or higher. This is because the project tries to load .NET framework version 1.1 and then tries to load .NET framework version 2. This loading of the second .NET framework fails and that causes the crash. To correct this, compile your project using Visual Studio 2005. If this is not possible you can correct the problem if you un-install version 1.1 of the .NET framework.
The following changes/additions have been made:
Multi-source fields
Added the ability to easily insert control codes (ASCII 0-31) into a multi-source field. Click the “Control Characters” button to add the control code as a literal string. Then add the literal string as a component of the field data.
Label Background Image
Added the option of using an image for the label background. This non-printing image can be used to aid in field alignment when using pre-printed label stock. The background image can be any size (up to label width/height) and can be positioned anywhere in the label format. The image can also be embedded in the label format file.
TrueType Font Files
For printers that support downloading of TrueType font files, in some cases multiple copies of the same font were sent. This was caused by small differences in the font parameters. This has been corrected so that fonts are only downloaded once.
Datamax Printers and USB
Certain models of Datamax printers could cause EASYLABEL to crash when connected using a USB port and bi-directional communications was enabled. This has been corrected.
Windows Versions
Changed EASYLABEL to properly identify Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems.
Eltron Printers
A problem in the EASYLABEL Eltron printer driver sometimes caused a crash when printing certain label formats. This has been corrected.
Database Fields and Field Locking
If a database data field (not a search field) was locked, it was still possible to edit the field from the print preview screen by clicking on the field. This has been corrected. Any field that is locked should not be able to be edited.
Default TCP/IP Timeout
When adding a printer using network TCP/IP communications, the default timeout value is 300 seconds. The timeout value must be set to at least one second, although we recommend that the value be at least the default of 300, but larger values may be needed depending on the number of jobs sent to the printer and the printer’s throughput.
Avery Dennison and USB
The Avery Dennison AP 4.4, AP 5.4 and 64-xx series of printers now allow selection of USB for a communications port.
Serial Files
Under extreme conditions it was possible that EASYLABEL might overwrite the value stored in a serial file. This has been corrected.
New “Code 32” Barcode
Added support for “Code 32”, an Italian Pharmaceutical barcode.
New “@USERID” Reserved Word
Added a new reserved word, @USERID, which can be accessed by creating a field with a source of data of “Copied”. This will return the current EASYLABEL user name, or the word “default” if user signon is disabled in the configuration.
Multi-up Labels and Minimum Width
On some printers, when creating narrow labels that are more than 1 across, it was possible to get an error saying that the total width was less than the minimum label width. This was incorrect and has been fixed.
EASYLABEL Program Type and Version Number
The EASYLABEL program type (Platinum, Gold, etc.) and the version number are now stored in the label format anytime a format is saved. This information is displayed in the preview area of the file open dialog.
Zebra Printers and RFID
For some Zebra printers there was an error when attempting to encode RFID tags using an incrementing field. Incorrect printer commands were being sent which caused errors in the encoded data. This has been corrected.
Zebra Printers and Code 128 Barcodes
In some cases of Code 128 barcodes with an added checkdigit, the barcode was encoded using the wrong character set. This resulted in a barcode that was wider than expected. This has been corrected.
Ricoh and RJS Printers
Label format files that had long filenames would cause a crash when printed to an RJS or Ricoh printer. This has been fixed.
Printronix Insufficient Memory Error
When printing a label format that contained graphics or True Type fonts, it was very easy to get an “Insufficient Memory” error in the EASYLABEL print queue. This has been corrected.
@TRUECOUNT Reserved Word
Corrected a problem where the value of field referencing @TRUECOUNT might not be propagated to copied, linked, or arithmetic fields using that field.
White Text Over a Color Picture
When using a Windows printer, it was not possible to print white text over a picture. The text would print as black. This has been fixed to allow for white text and a white (transparent) background.
Net Print Server
Corrected several problems with the Net Print Server. Some label formats would not work because of a bug in the Net Print Server related to locating the correct printer. Also fixed several textual errors in the user interface and added some additional error codes for easier debugging.
Tharo H-series and GS1 DataBar (RSS)
Fixed problem of incorrect human readable text for GS1 DataBar barcodes. The human readable was missing the application identifier (AI) and the check digit.
Zebra Time Accuracy
Some Zebra printers allow for selection of “Time Accuracy Tolerance” which set the number of seconds after which the time on a label would be updated. Some printers which support this function do not allow for a specific number of seconds to be specified. In this case we now allow the user to enter 0 which will cause the printer to use its “Time Now” option. The printed time value is the time when the label was imaged by the printer.
ODBC “DSN=” Connection Strings and Windows 7
When printing label formats designed using older versions of the Windows operating system, the ODBC connection string stored in the label format was insufficient for Windows 7. This has been corrected.
Conditional Field Printing
If a field had “Enable Printing” set to “Conditional”, and the “Print Criterion” referenced the name of the field itself, it was possible that this could cause a crash. This has been corrected.
