Important Note: As of Version 5.7.0 EASYLABEL will only install on Windows 2000 or higher. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT are no longer supported. EASYLABEL 5.6 should be used on Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT. Windows 95 is not supported.

Important Note: If you used Visual Studio 2003 to compile a project using EASYLABEL’s ActiveX objects with version 1.1 of the .NET framework, you may experience a crash when you run your project after upgrading to EASYLABEL 5.7.0 or higher. This is because the project tries to load .NET framework version 1.1 and then tries to load .NET framework version 2. This loading of the second .NET framework fails and that causes the crash. To correct this, compile your project using Visual Studio 2005. If this is not possible you can correct the problem if you un-install version 1.1 of the .NET framework.

The following changes/additions have been made:

  1. RFID as Source of Data

Added “RFID” as a sub-heading under “Source of Data” in the field list window. This will allow easy access to any field that uses RFID as the data source.

  1. Format Definition Report

The format definition report did not function correctly if there were any “invisible” fields on the format. Invisible fields are created when using the barcode wizard or when data segments are created for a multi-source text or barcode field. This has been corrected and the invisible barcode or text fields will appear on the report.

  1. Incorrect error messages

When creating a field using “Arithmetic” as the source of data, in certain cases an unreadable error message is displayed. This has been fixed to show the correct error message.

  1. RFID shown for non-RFID printers

After creating a format for an RFID printer, then creating a format for a non-RFID printer, the non-RFID format would show RFID tag type information in the “File Open” preview window. This has been fixed.

  1. Datamax printers

In some cases the “W” command was being sent to printers that should not receive this command. This has been fixed.

  1. Sato printer status

The print queue printer status window would sometimes show incorrect status information until a print job was sent to the printer. This has been fixed.

  1. cab printers and database download

Downloading a format to a local disk drive (not to the printer) would sometimes leave an old database on the drive. If the database had been changed then the changes were not being updated to the downloaded drive. This has been corrected.

  1. Downloading to Tharo H-series

When downloading a format to an H-series printer and the format contained an incrementing field, selecting the “Indefinite” print quantity, an error message indicated that the batch size was too large. This has been fixed.

  1. Sato M84Pro-6 label length

Corrected a problem where labels longer than 7 inches did not print correctly. An incorrect label length command was being sent to the printer.

  1. Tharo H-series and data offsets

Added the ability to use a when-printed or database field as the offset value for a date field. This is useful when the format is to be downloaded to the memory card in the printer.

  1. Hungarian language fixes

Fixed many messages in the Hungarian language file. In some cases selection lists were incorrect resulting in certain options not being able to be selected.

  1. Tharo H-series incremented TrueType fields

If a field using a TrueType font was incremented, but the font download option was set to “Graphic Image” the field would not increment. This has been fixed.

  1. Unicode text option

Added the ability to enter Unicode text for fixed fields, when printed data, or database fields. This only works for fields using TrueType fonts. Any character present in the font can be used, allowing for multiple mixed languages in one field. Details can be found in ‘Unicode_in_EASYLABEL_5.doc’ which is located in the Documents folder in the EASYLABEL directory.

  1. Scalable fonts

For all printer scalable fonts, the “Set Maximum” button is displayed when selecting the font height.

  1. Windows printers and NW7 barcode

When printing an NW7 barcode to a Windows printer the start and stop characters were always displayed in the interpretation even if the user requested them to not be displayed. This has been corrected.

  1. Format tracking reports

Corrected a problem where modifying the report parameters (like removing one of the columns from the report) would leave incorrect headers for some of the remaining fields.

  1. New Sato RFID Printers

The Sato GL408e and GL412e now have the option to enable RFID capability.

  1. “Lock Field” now available in all versions

The option to lock a field on a label format is now available in all versions of the software.
