Memo

May be used to store large blocks of textual information. The actual memo information is stored outside the .DBF file as a .DBT file. Within the database file, a memo field is designated by the word ‘memo.’ Memo field size is variable up to 5000 bytes. Within the .DBF record itself, however, a memo field will have a fixed length of 10.
